Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos describes her spoiled-brat character in comedy-drama Sossy Problems: “Hindi niya na-experience yung masabihan siya ng, ‘No!’ So sanay siya na lahat nakukuha niya… Wala siyang capability na ganun na mero'n tayo. Parang pag narinig nating, ‘No!’ ibang choice yung gagawin natin. Pero yung sa kanya, hindi. ‘Ito yung gusto ko!’”

Rhian Ramos plays one of the four glamorous, rich girls in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 entry, Sossy Problems.

Directed by Andoy Ranay, the comedy-drama tackles the idiosyncrasies of the upper-class—specifically the vain and status-conscious elites who speak in mixed English and Tagalog or “Taglish.”

The “sossy” characters, also called by the derogatory Spanish term “konyo” of society, will be portrayed by Kapuso actresses Rhian, Heart Evangelista, Bianca King, and Solenn Heussaff.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with a fresh-faced Rhian at the set of Sossy Problems on Tuesday, November 8, in the Eastwood City grounds in Quezon City. During an interview, the 22-year-old actress excitedly talked about Lizzy, the ill-mannered, rich brat she plays.

“Sa grupo naming mga friends, apat kami. Ako yung pinakamayaman and pinaka-bossy and pinakamaarte and pinakawalang alam na gawin!

“Tapos yung problem ko dito, napaka-bossy ko talaga to the point na pati yung mga tao na usually yung family na never kang iiwan— yung family and friends mo— sila na mismo yung naiirita sa akin.”

Lizzy, according to Rhian, is just so unbearable that the character cannot be paired in a loveteam nobody really ends up loving her.

Rhian says the role is unlike her sassy and cheeky lead character in the film My Kontrabida Girl.

“Actually, yung sa My Kontrabida Girl, may pinanggagalingan kasi yung pain niya, e.

Lizzy’s character will learn a lesson when she is sent to the province and is forced to live the simple life.

That facet of Lizzy, Rhian mentioned, is something she related with.

“Pag tinalikuran ka na ng ibang tao, yung pamilya talaga yung nando’n.

“Yun yung pinaka-importante,” she uttered, meaningfully.

UNCONSCIOUSLY BECOMING LIZZY. During the chat, Rhian shared how she once came to work in Sunday variety show Party Pilipinas and unconsciously “acted like” Lizzy.

It was her friend and co-star Isabelle Daza who noticed that Rhian was not herself.

The actress continued, “Belle [asked me], ‘Are you okay?’

“Sabi ko, ‘No it’s just kasi during the day I’m working and then at night, I go out! It’s so tiring because I have friends here and I’m taking them out!’”

Finding it odd, Belle sarcastically told her, “Ang lungkot naman ng buhay mo, kailangan mo lumabas pag gabi! Aww!’”

Coming to her senses, she realized, “Oo nga, no? Anong problema ko?’ Dapat nga masaya ako, nakakalabas pa ako pag gabi, di ba?”

Laughing off the incident, Rhian stated, “Nasasanay ako sa character ko. Siguro pagkatapos ng movie na ito, kailangan ko siguro, ewan ko, mag-workshop para mawala itong character! Ayokong dumikit, e!”

OWN LANGUAGE, VANITY. Amused by Lizzy, Rhian added that the character speaks in a distinct manner.

She told, “Kunwari kahit heartfelt na yung moment, parang [sasabihin niya,] “Chello, girl! I know you so well!”

Even she gets annoyed by the role— “Nakakainis! Kailangan puro ‘Chello!’ or ‘Hindi ko maalala yung suot niya kasi it’s so jej!”

“Jej,” of course, stands for “jejemon.”

Finally she pointed out about Lizzy, “Ayaw niyang normal siya. Yung mga suot niya, never siyang subtle! Never siyang nagbe-blend in.

“Pag inimbita siya sa isang debut na ang sinabing theme ay black and white, magre-red siya!”
