It has been a tiring but fulfilling run for the primetime series Genesis since it premiered on October 14.
As the show comes to an end this Friday, December 27, its powerhouse cast shares how the show has brought them closer.
Dingdong Dantes (Isaak)
"Lahat [naging memorable]. 'Yung first two weeks, kasi talagang binusisi namin ang first two weeks. We shot it for months, and that's how much dedicated we were doon sa pagpapaganda ng project."
Rhian Ramos (Raquel)
"Napi-feel na namin na mami-miss namin ang isa't isa kasi we are starting to eat together. Usually kasi pahinga namin 'yung mga lunch break at dinner break. Lahat ng girls nasa girl's tent, lahat ng guys nasa guy's tent. Today, hindi kami nag-uusap-usap, we just all started showing up at the table tapos parang na-gets na namin na 'mami-miss ko kayo!'
Jackie Lou Blanco (Ramona)
"I guess mami-miss ko talaga ang samahan namin. Happy people in a happy set despite the heaviness of the work, the distance that we need to travel kasi medyo malalayo 'yung pinupuntahan namin. It's always naman the company that you remember. Of course you remember the good scenes, but I think more than anything, you really remember the relationships that you build when you work."
Carlo Gonzales (Waldo)
"From Day One, naging magaan, it was so smooth from the crew to the staff to the artists. Talagang 'yung bonding namin, ibang klase. Most of them ngayon ko lang nakatrabaho, Towards the middle of the taping schedule, parang feeling ko matagal ko na silang nakakatrabaho. The people around, and siguro 'yung atmosphere during taping, kahit sabihin mong malayo o maaga, parang light pa rin ang atmosphere."
Luane Dy (Jill)
Genesis airs its final episode tomorrow, December 27, after Adarna on GMA Telebabad.

You don't have to be perfect just to be the hero of the story
"You don't have to be perfect just to be the hero of the story." - Rhian Ramos

Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos admits to not having any formal training in acting, but that did not stop her from brilliantly portraying the roles she gets, the latest of which is as Raquel in the primetime series Genesis. On one of its recent episodes, she effectively made Raquel look like she was starting to lose her sanity out of desperation in finding her daughter Osie.
Whatever technique she uses now, she gives credit to Direk Joyce Bernal and acting coach Jay Cruz for it. "Sa kanila nanggaling 'yung huwag planuhin kung ano ang gagawin. I-feel mo na lang para kapag nangyari na, totoo 'yung reaction mo."
Rhian also makes sure that she does proper research about her character as she believes it is the responsible thing to do. She also empties her mind before doing a scene so she can create various reactions to any stimulation.
"Kunwari, tinuro ako ng bata tapos sasabihin niya na baliw ako, puwede kong siyang marinig. puwedeng hindi. Parang ang dami kong choices na puwedeng gawin sa loob ng eksena. Ayokong i-plan 'yung acting ko sa rehearsal pa lang."
Rhian also mentioned that she wants to play someone with an uncontrollable weakness in a future project. What inspired her to consider this role?
"My two favorite shows of 2013, Banshee and Ray Donovan, medyo may pagka-ganun. May something sila na hindi nila ma-control. Although they are the hero of the story, medyo kalaban pa rin nila ang sarili nila. You don't have to be perfect just to be the hero of the story."
Will Raquel and Osie be reunited with Isaak before the end of the world? Find out in the last two weeks of Genesis, weeknights after Adarna, on GMA Telebabad. -- Text by Michelle Caligan, Interview by Shively Abella, Photo by Bochic Estrada, GMANetwork.com

Playing a mother role for Rhian Ramos
Playing a mother role was "a very welcoming change" for Rhian Ramos
First time ng Kapuso actress na si Rhian Ramos ang gumanap bilang isang ina, and as Raquel in the primetime series Genesis, she learned that a mother's love for her child is incomparable.
"The more I played Raquel and the more that I got to interact with Sasha as Osie, as my daughter, saka ko na-feel na parang iba talaga 'yung pagmamahal ng isang ina. You can't compare it to just the love you would give to your husband or boyfriend. The love that a parent gives to a child is really different," admits Rhian when we visited the set of Genesislast December 11.
The more she played the role of Raquel, she says, the more it became natural for her to be protective of Osie, lalo na kapag may mga eksenang sinasaktan sila ni Paolo, played by TJ Trinidad.
"Nagwawala talaga ako na parang hindi ko naman pinlano before the scene. It was actually a very welcoming change. I really liked playing a mother role kasi finally, there was something new. It was undiscovered territory for me as an actress."
The 23-year old also shared that there are still other roles she wants to explore, as she does not want to be typecast as a damsel in distress. Aside from being "the one who saves the guy" and portraying very sexy roles, Rhian also wants to try something out-of-the-box.
"Gusto kong magkaroon ng isang character na mayroon siyang uncontrollable weakness, parang some kind of psychological problem. For example, character na may OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). You can't help it, you can't control it. You have to fix things, you have to do things in a certain way. It can even be some kind of addiction, basta something you have trouble controlling. Para bang kalaban mo ang sarili mo," pagdedetalye niya.

Rhian Ramos used social media to raise funds for Yolanda victims.
We find much use for social media nowadays. We use it to share memories, update our friends on our whereabouts, post photos for posterity, and yes, we also use it for ‘selfies’ and ‘ootds.’
During the onset of typhoon Yolanda, many turned to their social media accounts to look for their missing relatives and ask for help. Celebrities also disseminated information through reposting different organizations’ announcements which reached thousands of their followers.
Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos aired out her sentiments for Yolanda victims Sunday night when she tweeted:
“Na-de-depress ako, I felt bad knowing what happened tapos parang sometimes kasi sa sobrang lucky ko, na-gi-guilty na ko na hindi pantay-pantay lahat,” said Rhian during an interview yesterday.
It also didn’t help that she gets updated regarding the situation in Tacloban from her friend who is still there. “‘Yung sitwasyon kasi dun, kung paano n’ya ikwento, parang mas malala pa sa nakikita natin. Lalo akong nalulungkot kasi ang hirap ng communication natin dun, hindi din natin malabas lahat ng nangyayari,” she mentioned.
Rhian said that she felt helpless because she wanted to help but didn’t know how, although one thing’s for sure – she wanted to raise funds. She even tweeted yesterday:
After a few moments, perhaps Rhian had a light bulb moment and she utilized her Instagram account to auction off a designer bag.
“Nakita ko ‘yung bag sa closet ko, hindi ko naman ginagamit. So I’d rather turn it into something that can save someone else’s life.”
The Hermes bag costs roughly a hundred thousand according to Rhian’s succeeding post. The winning bid reached PhP 52,000.
“I’m sothankful na ganun ang puso n’ya. So happy ako,” Rhian says of the winning bidder, @mdlcpar.
Right after closing the bid, Rhian headed to GMA telethon headquarters where she spent a couple of hours answering calls.
“Siguro 40% ng calls na natatanggap ko nagdodonate or nagtatanong kung paano magdonate or magvolunteer. 60% may hinahanap sila.”
Rhian admits that manning the phone lines and auctioning off her things might be small things, but isn’t it true when she said, “I just wanted to help. I just wanted to think of ways to help. Ito lang yung magagawa ko from this distance.”
Rhian ended our interview with a short message:
“To the storm victims and their families, I’m so sorry about what happened. Let’s all get through this together.”
And this is one post that deserves our “like.”
For anyone who is interested in donating or volunteering for the Operation Bayanihan of GMA Kapuso Foundation, please call the telethon hotlines (02) 981-9950. If you know of people looking for information about their missing relatives in Yolanda-affected areas, please ask them to check out gmane.ws/yolandamissing for the database.
