CHARACTERS

Jade Tanchingco (Rhian Ramos), she is the one and only daughter of
Oscar Tanchingco (Al Tantay) and
Amanda Tanchingco (Glydel Mercado). She has two brothers
Paul Tanchingco (Mike Tan), who is a gay and
Gabriel Tanchingco (TJ Trinidad), who was married to
Pearl Sy - Tanchingco (Pauleen Luna). Jade’s grandparents are
Cecilia “Ama” Tanchingco (Gloria Romero) and
John “Angkong” Tanchingco (Tony Mabesa). Her best friend is
Sally Lim-Apolinario (Sheena Halili) and she had a boyfriend
David Limjoco (Luis Alandy).
Althea Guevarra (Glaiza De Castro) is a lipstick lesbian and a wedding coordinator. Her best friend is
Batchi Luna (Chynna Ortaleza) who has a family with
Abby Luna (Stephanie Sol) and her child is
Marinelle Luna (Kariz Espinosa).
Wila Mateo (Katrina Halili) is Althea’s Ex-Girlfriend. Althea had an ex-husband
Tommy Alvaro (Paolo Contis) and a son
Miggy Guevarra (Marc Justin Alvarez).

The Richman’s Daughter was the first lesbian-themed drama on television. It was the most provocative drama and was shown on GMA 7 Primetime from May 11 – August 7, 2015.



The story begun with the parents of Jade who at first were not accepted by Angkong because of a Chinese tradition. Amanda, Oscar’s wife, made everything for them to be accepted. Until one day, she found out that a baby girl is the key. She prayed for a daughter and it was heard. Their daughter then is Jade. They were welcomed again in the Tanchingco Family and all because of the lovely Jade.

After a trip in Europe, Jade went back to the Philippines for the wedding of her brother, Gabriel. On the wedding, she met Althea who was the wedding coordinator. On the next days after the wedding, they were able to have time to see each other and became friends. They go out for a movie and mall and they enjoyed each other’s company. They even give gifts to each other and talk to the phone for long hours.

Jade got now confused about David, her boyfriend and Althea. She is bothered so she talked to her parents. Oscar, her father was alarmed, he talked to David. All of a sudden, David proposed to Jade and immediately organized an engagement party.

When Althea knew the engagement of Jade, she was in tears. That was the time when she finally admitted what she feels about Jade.

The engagement party of Jade and David was cancelled. She went to Althea instead, whose father died. That time, she also told Althea what she feels.

Jade’s family was very mad at her. They said she was a big embarrassment to the family. Jade had no choice, even if she loved Althea, she still continued the engagement party and broke up with her.

The first person who knew about the preference of jade is her brother, Paul. Paul was mad at Jade, since she was the reason why he was hated by their family.

After the engagement party, David knew the relationship of Jade and Althea. He then called off the wedding. Tanchingco family was ashamed of what happened, so they punished Jade. Jade do not know what to do, she tried to commit suicide.

After the incident, Paul talked to Jade to go with Althea which she followed. She escaped from her family. They were together for days.

Not so long, Jade’s family knew about her whereabouts and her sexual preference which they cannot accept.

The Tanchingcos are powerful, they made all the possible ways to degrade Althea and broke the relationship of the two. But, they were not successful.

The family was embarrassed about the truth on Jade’s part. Aside from Jade being a lesbian and Paul being a gay, their eldest Gabriel also said he didn’t love Pearl and wanted an annulment.

After all these challenges, Jade and Althea are still strong. They thought of ways on how they can solve the problem. Jade had an idea of pretending to marry a man. She thought after that, they won’t have any problem anymore.

Hence, the man Jade asked to pretend was the ex-husband of Althea. She did not know anything about it. Althea was afraid to tell the truth. Nevertheless, Jade knew about it by her father. She got mad and broke up with Althea.

Jade stayed to Sally first. After few days, Jade really loves Althea. She forgave her immediately.

On the other side, Abby went home from Dubai to her love Batchi and her daughter, Marinelle.

David went back from the U.S, he knew everything Jade and Althea had to, and so he volunteered to be his professed husband.

Althea and Jade agreed to it. They also asked David to lend them some money so that Althea can get her son, Miggy from Tommy.

Althea got Miggy and said goodbye to Jade because they will do the plan. Without the knowledge of Jade, her father Oscar and David allied to make her go away from Althea.

David and Jade got married but they are still seeing Althea because it was the condition agreed upon.

Jade together with her parents and David went to U.S for a honeymoon. Before going, Oscar used Tommy and Miggy and talked to Althea that if she wants her son back she must first break up with Jade which she did. But, Oscar did not do as agreed. He even flogged her. Althea was emotionally depressed that see needed to see a doctor.

Wila and Batchi were there for her. They took care of her. Wila still love her, so she took advantage of it. Hence, Batchi got busy and Abby was getting mad.

By the way, Abby and Batchi met the biological father of Marinelle. His name is Lester. It made Abby realized that she wanted to be a mother and set aside his own needs and she left Batchi.

From U.S, they went back to the Philippines because of the sudden death of Angkong.

When they were home, Jade looked for Althea but she cannot find her nor contact her. She gave up finding Althea until she found out the allied plan of her father and David. She knew all the things they did to Althea through Batchi.

After the burial of Angkong, Pearl said that she would annul her marriage to Gabriel after she knew he would have a child from another girl. She is Angeline San Jose (Charee Pineda).

Jade did everything to find Althea but she did not. Althea is now with Miggy in a new home. She was having night outs with Wila and Batchi who was problematic also.

Sally and Paul become closer. They became the best of friends. Unfortunately, Sally fell in love with him but Paul only wants her to be a friend. When they were drunk Sally took advantage of him and something happened to them. Oscar knew about it and assured Sally that Paul will marry her.

Paul did not agree with this idea. So, he committed suicide. He died.

The family mourned deeply.

In the wake of Paul, Jade and Althea were finally able to talk. It was a heartbreaking talk; it was painful for both them that they were not yet able to be together.

After the burial of Paul, Jade with Amanda & Gabriel decided to leave Oscar for a while to think about their life.

Sally helped them and lived in their house for a while.

Gabriel also talked to Pearl. He found out that they will be having a child. Pearl forgave Gabriel and live together with their son.

Jade made a foundation dedicated to Paul.

After these they went back to the Tanchingco house with Oscar who changed for the better.

Jade looked for Althea. She asked Wila and Batchi, who were now couples but they did not say it.

Unluckily, she found her with her new love Kathleen (Solenn Heusaff). Jade decided to move on and accept the truth.

After that, there was a rally on LGBT Community. In there, Althea and Jade saw each other. Jade was ready and proud of her sexuality while Althea is free to love her. In the end, they are still meant for each other.

The Rich Man’s Daughter was just a proof that whatever happens, definitely LOVE WINS.
